نبذة مختصرة : The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of carqueja essential oil (Baccharis trimera), in a model of diet-induced obesity in zebrafish juveniles, through the evaluation of weight and length, blood glucose, biochemical parameters such as total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides and histological analysis of visceral adipose tissue. An experiment was carried out to induce obesity through a hypercaloric diet, where the potential effects of carqueja essential oil as a mitigating agent of the changes caused by hyperalimentation were evaluated. In this experiment, 120 juvenile zebrafish specimens were used, divided into 3 treatments, with four replications. carqueja + egg yolk (T3). After 8 weeks of experiment, measurements of weight and length were carried out and then the blood collection procedures to determine blood glucose. Samples were taken from 12 animals of each treatment for the other analyses. The results found showed that the animals that consumed diet with carqueja oil showed an improvement in the lipid profile, with significant results (p<0.05) for a decrease in LDL and triglycerides and an increase in HDL. For weight and length, plasma glucose and morphometric analysis of visceral adipocytes, there was no significant difference (p>0.05).
