La fabrica de la proximidad civilizatoria en la producción de normas jurídicas internacionales. Una aproximación a la historia del derecho internacional privado a través de la relación epistolar entre Estanislao Zeballos y André Weiss

Based on the archives of Estanislao Zeballos, the article examines the history of international law at the beginning of the 20th century. The choice of approaching the doctrinal production through an ego-archive seeks to highlight the strategies deployed by an Argentine jurist to integrate the selective cenacle of European internationalists who postulate themselves as "organ of the legal conscience of humanity". The study is based on the correspondence between Estanislao Zeballos and André Weiss, a French internationalist, specialist in private international law and member of the Institute of International Law. The analysis of these archives is part of the debate that feeds the renewal of studies in the history of international law around the role played by (European) universalism in the imperial expansion of the nineteenth century and which places the new Latin American states in a situation of peripheral subordination. The micro-social approach allows to account for the role played by personal relations and scientific networks in the construction of a civilizing proximity and the device that allows to give to the local doctrinal production a universal scope.
