Educational methodology used as a tool for oral health education during pregnancy ; Metodologia educativa empregada como ferramenta de educação em saúde bucal na gestação

Educational and health promotion activities are not exclusive to one age group or condition, and the gestational period is an excellent opportunity to train and create new knowledge. The objective of this work is to investigate the educational activities of health promotion in the literature and to describe an experience carried out with pregnant women in a Dental Care Program for Pregnant Women. This is a literature review study on educational activities and methodologies used in health services with pregnant women. It was observed that the effectiveness of the health education method used is directly proportional to the number of intervention sessions performed; The inclusion of pregnant women in debates and discussions, in addition to making them more comfortable, can make them more receptive to learning, leading to a better perspective of adherence to treatment and the association of more than one health education methodology, contributes in the development of positive attitudes and healthy behavior. The Pregnancy Dental Care Program strengthens the extension-teaching-research-community link, effectively acting in the promotion and education in oral health of pregnant women and qualifying students and professionals. It is concluded that the use of active methodologies of health education with pregnant women are effective in the acquisition of healthy habits, being essential during prenatal care.
