Scholar Failure and Dropout of Minors under Protection Measures ; Fracaso Escolar y Absentismo en Menores bajo Medidas de Protección

This article describes the schooling of minors whose families are included “P.E.R.” and “P.E.P.” programs (Social Protection Programs of the Valencia Council). It is about 216 minors, aged between 3 and 16, who are the total population. The description is based on the dimensions: scholar learning, scholar adaptation, educational needs and resources. The sources have been their teachers – tutors of the current school year, whom we have directly interviewed -, and the reports written by the Council Assistants. The results show a deficient scholarship in all the dimensions, in spite of the educational resources offered, as well as significant differences depending on age, with older students having more problems. ; Este artículo describe la escolarización de menores cuyas familias están incluidas en los programas P.E.R. y P.E.P., programas de protección social del Ayuntamiento de Valencia. Se trata de 216 menores, con edades entre los 3 y los 16 años, que constituyen la totalidad de la población. Basamos la descripción en las dimensiones: aprendizaje escolar, adaptación escolar, necesidades y recursos educativos. La fuente de información han sido los tutores del curso actual a los que hemos entrevistado directamente y los informes escritos elaborados por los técnicos de servicios sociales. Los resultados muestran una escolarización deficiente en todas las dimensiones a pesar de los recursos educativos ofrecidos, así como diferencias significativas en función de la edad, con más problemas en alumnos mayores.
