Seroprevalence of hepatitis B virus in the population of Douala-Cameroon ; Séroprévalence du virus de l'hépatite B chez la population de Douala-Cameroun

Cameroon, like many other countries, is characterized by a high endemicity of viral hepatitis B due to its cosmopolitan character and the presence of a high number of alcoholism and spaces of joy. Objective. Determine the seroprevalence of viral hepatitis B in the population of Douala. Population and Methods. We carried out a descriptive cross-sectional study from January 25 to April 1, 2023 at Louis pasteur Labo Sarl. The search for serological markers was carried out using the Eclia technique on the Cobas e411 machine. The processing, entry and analysis of statistical data was done with Jamovi software version 2.3.24. Results. 329 people were sampled. The average age of the study population was 37 years with extremes ranging from 3 to 93 years. We obtained a predominance of the female sex 64% (211) compared to the male sex which represents only 36% (118) and a prevalence of 11.24%. No significant statistical link between the factors age and hepatitis B as well as sex and hepatitis B was obtained. Conclusion: The results allow us to conclude that the prevalence of viral hepatitis B is high, which demonstrates its nature as a public health problem. ; Le Cameroun comme beaucoup d’autres pays est caractérisé par une forte endémicité d’hépatites virales B de par son caractère cosmopolite et la présence d’un nombre élevé alcoolisme et d’espaces de joie. Objectif. Déterminer la séroprévalence des hépatites virales B dans la population de Douala. Population et Méthodes. Nous avons réalisé une étude transversale descriptive du 25 janvier au 01 avril 2023 à Louis pasteur Labo Sarl. La recherche des marqueurs sérologiques a été faite par la technique Eclia sur l’automate Cobas e411. Le traitement, la saisie et l’analyse des données statistique a été faite avec le logiciel Jamovi version 2.3.24. Résultats. 329 personnes ont été prélevées.
