Neo-Ottomanism and Turkey's growing geopolitical influence in Central Asia ; Neo-otomanismo e a crescente influência geopolítica da Turquia na Ásia Central

International audience ; This paper aims to present the details of Turkish foreign policy in the twentiethandtwenty-first centuries, as well as to highlight the importance of the concept of Neo- Ottomanism in modifying the model of acting of the Republic of Turkey intheinternational arena from the 1980s, during the government of Turgut Özal. Moreover, it will be shown how the Neo-Ottomanist idea was crucial for the expansion of Turkishgeopolitical influence in the Central Asian region, identifying the main elements that made this expansion possible. ; Resumo Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar os detalhes da política externa turca nos séculos XX e XXI, bem como destacar a importância do conceito de Neo-otomanismo na modificação do modelo de atuação da República da Turquia no cenário internacional a partir dos anos 1980, durante o governo de Turgut Özal. Além disso, será demonstrado como a ideia neo-otomanista foi crucial para a ampliação da influência geopolítica turca na região da Ásia Central, identificando os principais elementos que possibilitaram essa expansão.
