      for the same examination. The question has been raised as to whether it would be wise for us to modify our freshman course so that it would fit students for this examination. As yet very little study has been made of this problem. IV - Miscellaneous 1 - Commencement Exercises: After several disappointments in our search for a suitable commence-ment speaker, Dr. McClenahan succeeded in persuading Dr. Ali Pasha Ibrahim, Dean of the Kas el Aini Medical School, and acting Rector of the Egyptian University, to give the commencement address. We considered it a great privi-lege to have secured Dr. Ali as there are few men indeed in Egypt who command so high respect as he. Unfortunately as has proven to be the case on aAuaber of previous occasions, a good address was largely spoiled because of a poor voice. This raises the question of the importance of installing amplifiers for such occasions. Had it not been for the Abdal Kader al Hussaini affair the Com-mencement would have been a pleasant affiar. This student had been in our college for five years, having entered as a Sophomore. During this time, due mostly to lack of application and sheer dishonest efforts to get through without doing the required work, he failed to get his degree a year ago. When registering last autumn, the Registrar was careful to make him sign an agreement that unless he passed certain courses required of him, he would not be given his degree, even though he should technically have enough credit to entitle him to a degree. He failed to fulfill these conditions, in fact, seemed to make very little effort to do so. The faculty decided teat in view of the fact that he comes from a very influential family in Jerusalem, that it would be worthwhile to give him a certificate for the work he had done, even if he did not merit a degree. After receiving his certificate, he turned to the audience and cursed the institution, as one which is attempting to ruin the religious faith of Moslem and Christian alike.
