Intervencions al fossar i l’església parroquial d’Hortells (Morella, els Ports): Aspectes arqueològics i històrics

A mitjans del s. XVIII s’acabà de construir l’actual església parroquial d’Hortells (d’estil barroc). Aquesta es va fer a costa del fossar medieval-modern anterior a l’actual cementeri (inaugurat el 1816). El fossar antic degué d’estar associat a alguna església, possiblement d’estil gòtic, de la qual no ha quedat constància arquitectònica. Presentem ací els resultats de les troballes efectuades als treballs arqueològics de seguiment desenvolupats durant la restauració parcial del temple, on aparegueren dos contexts funeraris, el fossar antic (XIII?-1816) i un altre enterrament associat a l’actual temple. ; The construction of the current church in Hortells was finished in the mid-eighteenth century (baroque style). The temple was built at the expense of the medieval-modern graveyard prior to the current cemetery (established in 1816). The graveyard must have been linked to a certain church, possibly gothic style, of whose existence there is no architectural evidence. In this paper we present the results of the findings that were made throughout the archaeological project. Such project was developed in the course of the partial restoration of the temple, where two funerary sites were found: the old parish graveyard (thirteenth century?-1816) and another burial ground associated with the present-day temple.
