نبذة مختصرة : Accelerators have accompanied the development of nuclear and particle physics in the last ninety years. From first cyclotrons to the LHC and the discovery of the Higgs boson, throughout the collider concept demonstrated first by Bruno Toushek, accelerators have been instrumental for the discovery of new fundamental particles and mechanisms, thanks to an undeniable progress in performance supported by a continuous technical development. Now for the after-LHC era even larger challenges have to be faced, pushing existing technologies much beyond their present limits and pursuing until practical demonstration new technologies and concepts.
