Annual variation of phytogenetic resources marketed in a local market in the municipality of quibdo, colombian pacific ; Variación anual de los recursos fitogenéticos comercializados en un mercado local del municipio de Quibdó, pacífico colombiano

Contextualization: Plant genetic resources are the basis of the world's food security, therefore the need to deepen their knowledge and propose strategies for their conservation. Knowledge gap: marketplaces function as a collection center for the productive biological diversity of the regions, however, these scenarios are centralized, and this diversity tends to be eroded by acculturation processes. Purpose: The objective of this study was to know the annual variation of agricultural plant genetic resources, marketed in a marketplace in the Colombian Pacific, to promote their use and valuation. Methodology: For a year every fortnight, the Market Square of Quibdó was visited, where the commercialized agricultural plant genetic resources were recognized. Once in the square, tours were made between 8.30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. considering the number of active positions at the time of application of the questionnaire. The taxonomic determination of each species and its origin data was carried out with the help of electronic databases and online consultation and herbaria. While the cultivation practice was determined considering the data reported for the department of Chocó in the national agricultural survey-ENA. Results and conclusions: We identified 47 species, 35 genera and 29 families of diverse origins, periodicity, and types of crops. Not all plant genetic resources marketed in the marketplace are available annually. The months with the greatest species diversity were December (S=39), January (S=38), February and March (S=37). The lack of agricultural planning in the municipality makes the variation of plant genetic resources threaten their persistence, this occurs with species with little availability and unknown by the new generations, this being also a cause of erosion or loss of plant genetic resources in the region. ; Contextualización: Los recursos fitogenéticos, constituyen la base de la seguridad alimentaria del mundo, por ello la necesidad de ahondar en su conocimiento y proponer estrategias para su ...
