نبذة مختصرة : The study deals with formal education and teacher training in Ceará from the biography of an educator. It aims to understand the educational background and the contributions made by professor Josete de Oliveira Castelo Branco Sales in the constitution of the Education Center of the State University of Ceará. To achieve this scope, a biographical study was developed using the Oral History methodology, which made it possible to conduct free interviews for the collection of oral narratives – recorded, transcribed, textualized and validated. It was found that Josete Sales obtained a differentiated educational formation, made possible by having financial conditions that allowed her to continue her studies and by family support – from her mother, since teaching the first letters, and from her husband, who took over the care of the house and children –, breaking patriarchal and sexist patterns. His formal education went through a school group, telesino, normal school and university; the educator stood out as a teacher at the aforementioned university in Ceará, where she coordinated the preparation of the political-pedagogical project for the Pedagogy course and was the creator of the Education Center, strengthening the training of teachers from Ceará. His biography allowed to broaden the understanding about the History of Female Education in Ceará and the constitution of the Education Center at the State University of Ceará. ; El estudio aborda la educación formal y la formación docente en Ceará a partir de la biografía de una educadora.
