Britt with wife, Nancy, after receiving Congressional Medal of Honor, 5 June 1944. Caption glued to verso. Congressional Medal of Honor - 1944. ; Maurice "Footsie" Britt (June 29, 1919-November 26, 1995) graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1941 with a degree in journalism. While at college he was in the Sigma Chi fraternity and became the sports editor for the Arkansas Traveler, and was also a successful college basketball player and football player. He later played professional football with the Detroit Lions for one season, then entered the United States Army in December 1941. He received the Medal of Honor in 1944. Britt served two terms as lieutenant governor of Arkansas under Winthrop Rockefeller from 1967, ending in 1970. Britt took a position as the district director of the Small Business Administration in 1971 and served until 1985. (Finding Aid, Maurice "Footsie" Britt Collection and Encyclopedia of Arkansas).
