O presente artigo mobiliza temas que permearam a vida e a obra da Geógrafa Neli Aparecida de Mello-Théry (1955-2021). Movimentos sociais, ambiente e governança urbana democrática compõem sua leitura da gestão ambiental e dos territórios e da territorialidade, no instante que esses elementos são produtos de relações de poder. Nesse ensaio escrito para homenageá-la, procuramos inspirar-nos nos elementos que fundamentaram sua forma de pensar e produzir a realidade. O texto está composto de três partes na qual refletimos sobre o lugar dos movimentos sociais e do ambiente na produção de modelos de governança do território que sejam capazes de valorizar a participação e aprofundar a experiência democrática. ; This article mobilizes themes that permeated the life and work of Geographer Neli Aparecida de Mello-Théry (1955-2021). Social movements, the environment, and democratic urban governance make up her reading of environmental management and of territories and territoriality, as these elements are products of power relations. In this essay written to honor her, we have tried to draw inspiration from the elements that formed the basis of her way of thinking and interpreting reality.
