      Objetive. Determine antioxidant activity in aerial parts (leaves, stems and flowers) from Loricaria ferruginea Ruiz & Pav. Wedd. Material and Methods. The plant was collected in the zone of Llaca, Province of Huaraz, Region Ancash. For obtain the extracts was used the solid-liquid Soxhlet ́s extraction with ethanol, the ethanolic extract was fractioned using growing polarity solvents. For the determination of antioxidant activity was employed the method of free radical scavengers DPPH (Diphenyl-picril-hidrazil). The medium effective concentration (EC50) was realized in the extract and or fraction of mayor activity. Although was carried out a phytochemical screening to determine the type of secondary metabolites presents in the vegetal specimen. In the fraction of mayor activity was realized a preliminary phytochemical analysis too. Results. The fraction of ethyl acetate had the mayor antioxidant activity19,25% (10 ug/ml) and 73,47% (50 ug/ml) with EC50 (28,37 ug/ml).The metabolites found in the phytochemical screening were triterpens, flavonoids and catechins. In the fraction of ethyl acetate detected flavonoids and catechins. Conclusion. The fraction of ethyl acetate had the mayor antioxidant activity, but less the standard Rutine. The metabolite associated to the antioxidant activity appear the flavonoids and catechins. ; Objetivo. Determinar la actividad antioxidante en partes aéreas (hojas, tallos y flores) de la especie Loricaria ferruginea Ruiz & Pav. Wedd. Materiales y métodos. El material vegetal fue recolectado en la quebrada de Llaca, provincia de Huaraz, región Ancash. Los extractos se obtuvieron utilizando el método de extracción sólido - líquido Soxhlet con etanol. El extracto etanólico fue fraccionado utilizando solventes de polaridad creciente. Para la determinación de la actividad antioxidante se utilizó el método de neutralización del radical libre difenildipicrilhidracil (DPPH).
