نبذة مختصرة : El presente estudio exploró las posibles relaciones entre el estrés, la sensibilidad emocional, el afrontamiento y la salud percibida en cadetes de la Escuela Naval de Venezuela. Los participantes fueron 130 cadetes (31 mujeres y 99 hombres) a quienes se evaluó su grado de estrés, estilos de afrontamiento y sensibilidad emocional, con el objeto de establecer la relación de estas variables con su salud percibida. Los resultados apoyan hallazgos previos sobre la relación positiva del estrés y el deterioro en la salud percibida de los cadetes. Igualmente, se encontró una relación significativa entre la sensibilidad egocéntrica negativa (SEN) y las dimensiones del estrés, sugiriendo que las personas con esta característica perciben más situaciones estresantes y en forma más intensa. Finalmente, los resultados indican que los cadetes que utilizan estilos de afrontamiento poco adaptativos muestran mayor deterioro en su salud. ; The present study explored the possible relationship among stress, emotional sensitivity, coping and perceived health in cadets from the Navy Academy of Venezuela. Participants were 130 cadets (31 females and 99 males) evaluated on their level of stress, coping styles and emotional sensitivity, with the aim at determining the relationship between these variables and their perceived heatlh. Results support previous findings regarding the positive association between stress and the deterioration of the perceived health in cadets. Liwewise, significant relationships were found between negative egocentric sensitivity and the dimensions of stress, suggesting that people with this individual characteristic perceive more stressful situations and with more intensity. Finally, results indicate that those cadets who use less adaptive coping styles show a higher deterioration of their health.
