نبذة مختصرة : In this article a brief conceptual framework is exposed in order to understand the gender violence carried out within higher education institutions. In addition, the purpose is contribute in the elaboration of a critical and reflective dialogue. On the other hand, a brief lines of action are considered, which allow to temper gender violence and to increase spaces for peace, as well as plural and sympathetic coexistence. A fundamental concept is “masculinity”, explained from a gender perspective. Three interrelated aspects are exposed: a) a brief conceptual approach to understand the logic of gender violence, emphasizing the construction of patriarchal masculinity as a requirement for the exercise of violence against the feminine in higher education institutions. b) a brief descriptive and conceptual approach of how these institutions are organized. c) take into consideration experiences of reflective, critical and communal coexistence in higher education spaces, which, potentially, generate changes in the patriarchal structure of the higher educational field. It is concluded that the patriarchal masculinity is the base of political order and gender violence. This order is amalgamated with the structure of higher education institutions. Within this institutions, there are curricular and administrative institutional mechanisms that contribute to develop and negotiate the patriarchal violence against everything that is feminine.
