نبذة مختصرة : READ "R" REVIEWS VIDEO REVIEW OF: "The National Parks: America's Best Idea" (DVD E160.N385 2009) One of the newest DVDs in the Bellevue University Library is titled "The National Parks: America's Best Idea." In this 6-disc collection, viewers can appreciate firsthand the beautiful landscapes that the National Parks have to offer. Some of the highlights include Yosemite National Park, Old Faithful, and Mount Rushmore. Additionally, this documentary explores the political and cultural obstacles that were faced to make the National Parks a reality so that these amazing places can be enjoyed by all. Interwoven throughout the documentary are interviews with experienced park rangers, writers, historians, and other experts on the people and places mentioned. This DVD collection is available in the Bellevue University Library and can be borrowed for one week. JOURNAL REVIEW OF: "Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition" At Bellevue University we have first-hand knowledge of students who are in transition. While we have traditional students who begin their freshman year with us, we have to many online and non-traditional students who may have transferred in to complete their degree. No matter the type of student, each one can face the same social and academic challenges, as well as difficulties in navigating their way through registration, enrollment, advising and finances. A recently added journal to the Bellevue University Library collection, Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition, aims to provide information and research on such challenges and difficulties. This peer-reviewed journal is published 2-3 times a year and provides articles with abstracts, empirical research and statistical findings. For the last twenty years, the focus of the articles have centered on social and academic aspects of transition while looking at specific populations as well as the effects of institutional policies and procedures on students in transition.
