نبذة مختصرة : The object of the work: dental hygiene of patients using prescribed mouthwashers. Aim of the study: to evaluate dental hygiene of patients using prescribed mouthwasher. Work tasks: 1. Examine patient’s knowledge of individual dental hygiene. 2. To evaluate the state of dental hygiene of the patients by applying the OHI and GBI oral hygiene indices respectively before and after the use of the prescribed mouthwashers. 3. Compare the dental hygiene status of the patients by applying OHI and GBI dental hygiene indices respectively before and after the use of the prescribed mouthwashers. Research methods: interview and qualitative research - case study (4 patients selected according to dental health problem - gingivitis, soft plaque accumulation, halitosis, pigmental plaque accumulation). Results: The evaluation of the knowledge of IOH (individual dental hygiene) of the four patients revealed that two of them evaluated their dental hygiene condition satisfactorily, one - bad, one - good. Rinses are usually used as an additional dental hygiene tool. In the study, it was found that three respondents did not use this dental hygiene tool and one used but improperly. The assessment of the dental hygiene status of the patients before and after oral rinsing was followed by a change in the OHI-s index for all four subjects (patients). The change is positive - gingival bleeding and dental plaque have been reduced after rinsing. Insights: all subjects(patients) are not very responsible for taking care of their IOH and do not use the mouthwash as a curative or prophylactic because they do not know what to choose or they choose improperly; all subjects(patients) had dental plaque over 0 points and supposedly related for that oral health problem. Comparing the results before and after the use of mouthwashes, it can be hypothetically stated that oral mouthwashers are an effective tools of improving dental hygiene, especially when properly appointed by a specialist.
