Trabalho de conclusão de curso (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Centro de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Curso de Direito, RS, 2017. ; The present work deals with the public policies adopted in the last decades by Brazil on genetically modified organisms in light of Law 11.105 / 2005 and on food safety, provided for in Law 11.346 / 2006. In this context, there is still a lack of information for the population on the risks of food with transgenic products, since science itself has not reached a definitive conclusion on this subject. However, the main objective is to verify the abovementioned laws with emphasis on adequate food for the Brazilian population. By drawing a parallel between biosafety and food safety, it can be verified, if the right to information to the consumer is served according to the laws. It also seeks to analyze the precautionary principle, warning of environmental risks and human health. For that, the method of approach used is the deductive, and the methods of procedure are the monographic and the bibliographic. With this, it is aimed to find out if the laws that deal with the subject reach their main objective, which is the fundamental human right to an adequate diet. ; O presente trabalho aborda as políticas públicas adotadas nas últimas décadas, pelo Brasil, sobre organismos geneticamente modificados à luz da lei nº 11.105/2005 e sobre segurança alimentar, prevista na lei 11.346/2006. Nesse contexto, verifica-se ainda uma falta de informação para a população sobre os riscos da alimentação com produtos transgênicos, já que a própria ciência não chegou à uma conclusão definitiva sobre tal temática. Contudo, o objetivo principal é a verificação das leis supracitadas com ênfase na alimentação adequada para população brasileira.
