نبذة مختصرة : In the article, the actuality and necessity to work out a systematic approach and the use of methods of estimation of economic sphere state of cities vital activity in the context of their sustainable development are demonstrated. It is offered to estimate the state of the economic sphere to quantitative and qualitative indices and to regulate them on a scale from 0 to 1. Vertical aggregation of the indices of all levels (basic, aggregative, integrated, and estimation of the index of economic sphere index) was carried out using the arithmetic mean and the scale of quantitative and qualitative estimation: 1–0,75 – high level; 0,749–0,50 – average level; 0,499–0,25 – lower than average; 0,249–0 – low. The estimation of the economic sphere state of medium-sized cities was carried out using statistical data: 7 criteria; 20 indicators, including 17 of them were stimulators, 3 – destimulators. According to the results of estimation of sustainable development of the economic sphere of medium-sized cities, it was ascertained that the following cities: Ivano[1]Frankivsk (0,59), Lutsk (0,50), Rivne (0,52) are characterized by their average level of economic development, but the city of Melitopol (0,25) was on the level of a low one. It was revealed that the influence of stimulators on the index of the economic sphere state is described by the equations of increasing straight lines or parabola of the third-order at the coefficient of determination 0.192–0.9384. It is proved that Rivne has certain advantages in the economic sphere of vital activity comparison with Lutsk while competing to have leadership in the Volyn area.
