      Oxytetracycline, which is a member of the tetracycline family, is widely used in both veterinary and human medicine. The study aimed to compare the pharmacokinetics of oxytetracycline and its degradation products. Epimer forms such as 4-epi-oxytetracycline (EOTC), alpha and beta apooxytetracycline (AOTC, BOTC) and 2-acetyl-2-decarboxyamido-oxytetracycline (ADOTC) and also tetracycline (TC), which are the degradation products of oxytetracycline, may occur during the production and storage process of oxytetracycline. OTC degradation products can be found in pharmaceutical preparations of OTC. The study was conducted on adult male New Zealand rabbits with an average body weight of 3,5 kg. A mixed solutions containing oxytetracycline and degradation products were prepared. OTC and its degradation products were administered at a dose of 1 mg/kg by iv route. Blood samples were taken from the ear veins of the animals prior to drug administration (0) and at 0. 25, 0. 5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours after drug administration. The plasma concentrations of oxytetracycline its degratation products (EOTC, AOTC and BOTC) and TC were determined by liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The pharmacokinetic parameters were analyzed using the non-compartmental method. It was determined that the t½, Vdarea, and ClT of OTC were 2,8 hr, 4330,7 ml/kg, and 1058,7 ml/hr/kg, the t½, Vdarea, and ClT of TC were 2,2 hr, 1717,9 ml/kg, and 542,1 ml/hr/kg, the t½, Vdarea, and ClT of EOTC were 3,5 hr, 1231,1 ml/kg, and 241,5 ml/hr/kg, the t½, Vdarea, and ClT of AOTC were 0,4 hr, 386,4 ml/kg, and 659,5 ml/ hr/ kg, and the t½, Vdarea, and ClT of BOTC were 1,3 hr, 745,4 ml/kg, and 400,7 ml/hr/kg.
