19 páginas ; En este artículo se realiza un estudio de la teoría de la cultura planteada por Sigmund Freud. El análisis se detiene en el concepto de represión y en las complicaciones que este mismo deriva para el individuo y la cultura. Se discute la postura del autor y, oscilando entre un determinismo y una liberación total de la represión, se sugiere que la perspectiva de Freud frente al malestar en la cultura es, más bien, la de un Ilustrado. ; This article examines Sigmund Freud’s theory of culture. The analysis focuses on the notion of repression and the complications this concept creates for the individual and culture. The author’s theoretical position is discussed and, oscillating between determinism and a total liberation of repression, it is suggested that Freud’s perspective on the discontent in culture is, more exactly, that of an Enlightenment thinker.
