СОЦІАЛЬНО-ЕКОНОМІЧНА МОДЕРНІЗАЦІЯ ГАБСБУРЗЬКОЇ ГАЛИЧИНИ: ІСТОРІОГРАФІЯ ВИБРАНИХ АСПЕКТІВ

Introduction. The article examines contemporary Ukrainian and Polish historiography on the problem of socio-economic modernization of Habsburg Galicia. The topicality of this problem is due to the fact that in the last decades a considerable amount of studies on socio-economic processes in the Galicia of the Autonomous Age was created. The solidity, both quantitative and qualitative, of this historiographical work requires consolidation. The purpose of the article is to summarize the current scientific literature on the problem of socioeconomic modernization of Habsburg Galicia. Results. It has been revealed that, along with the traditional problems (first of all, the history of industry, cooperatives and agriculture), modern scientists are increasingly exploring economic processes in their close connection with the social context, which reveals the previously unnoticed interconnection of modernization factors. Thus, modern studies, for the first time, substantiate the connection between the phenomenon of self-government and the rapid progress of education. That, in turn, gave impetus to industrial growth, which resulted in a remarkable change in the infrastructure plan. The latter, in turn, led to a new quality of daily life for most Galicians, which finally changed their mentality. It has been proved that, along with the remarkable progress in the field of research on the phenomenon of Galician modernization, many aspects remain unexplored. First of all, let us point to the need for thorough monographs on all branches of economic life of that time, which should summarize the existing explanatory literature and approach the problem of their influence on Galician society in a balanced way. These generalizations should include coverage of previously marginalized issues: management features, employer-employee relationships, marketing and advertising, employee leisure and social protection, and more.
