Del dibujo científico al pensamiento filosófico trascendentalista: bocetos y pinturas al óleo por Frederic Edwin Church sobre el trópico colombiano en 1853

El artista norteamericano Frederic Edwin Church llegó a Colombia en 1853, donde produjo dibujos y bocetos de la naturaleza con tal rapidez que el interés por el detalle es nulo, pero así mismo realizó bocetos donde el detalle y el estudio de la naturaleza se ven reflejados y hacen evidente la influencia del estudio científico del paisaje. Posteriormente a su regreso a Estados Unidos, Church realiza sus pinturas al óleo basadas en los bocetos donde se hace presente el estudio de la naturaleza, y se entrelaza a sus representaciones la idealización del paisaje. Las pinturas de Church presentan un paisaje ideal, donde los elementos formales como la luz, el color y los detalles, etc., comunican ideas que transgreden el estudio científico, e incorporan nociones que se pueden entender bajo la visión trascendentalista, romántica, humanística y espiritual de la naturaleza, como parte de la filosofía norteamericana del momento. ; The North American artist Frederic Edwin Church arrived in Colombia in 1853, where he produced drawings and sketches of nature with such speed that demonstrate low interest in detail, but also he made sketches where details and the study of nature are reflect and evidenced the influence of the scientific study of the landscape.
