نبذة مختصرة : With technological growth increasing more and more, there is a need to improve energy performance, thus contributing to environmental and economic improvements. Regarding materials, mould steels require a large amount of material to be removed to obtain the desired cavities. Thus, the main objective of this work is to study the influence of the cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed per tooth and depth of cut) to understand the energy consumption in milling of 2767 and 2738HH steel, considering a defined tool geometry. The influence of cutting parameters on cutting force and specific cutting energy during milling was studied for each pair tool/material. To understand statistically the effects Design of Experiments (DOE) together with Response Surface Method (RSM) were used and predictive empirical models were created for each of the mentioned responses. It was observed that the cutting parameters significantly influence the responses, and it is possible to combine them to reduce energy consumption. According to the results obtained it is possible to reduce the specific cutting energy in 86,0% considering the less favourable case and the more favourable case in energy terms for the 2767 steel. For the 2738HH steel it is possible to reduce the specific cutting energy in 76% conjugating only the cutting parameters. It should be noted that the cutting speed proved to be influential regarding the reduction of the specific cutting energy and consumed energy for an experimental procedure where the cutting speed was the only cutting parameter to vary. The empirical methods to determine the specific cutting energy showed inadequacy when compared with the models obtained experimentally for both tool-material pairs, emphasizing the importance of this study for a more efficient industrial work preparation. ; Com o crescimento tecnológico a aumentar cada vez mais, surge a necessidade de melhorar o desempenho energético, contribuindo assim para melhorias ambientais e económicas. No que diz respeito aos materiais, os aços ...
