      Aiming to "analyze, from the perspective of geography, the homophobia phenomenon and possible entanglements with gender bias that are manifested within the scholar space and university", this study raises the issue of homophobia (and sexism) present in society and, above all, the institutional spaces of education (school and university). Through a mixed method (both qualitative and quantitative methods), inspired by some ethnographic and feminist principles, the methodology of this research compiled various procedures for data collection, with questionnaire for students, discursive formularies for primary school teachers and Geography students, and also recorded interviews with members of direction from four schools in the city of Pelotas. With this, it became possible to investigate some factors that influence the variability of homophobia and sexism phenomena, as is the family event (through the "transfer" of traditional generational knowledge), the religion (and the influence of theological knowledge) and as the not (re) scientific knowledge regarding studies on Gender and Sexuality. Along with this, are add to other factors observed in this study, such as: poor training / teaching practice, the imagination of teachers (trained or in training), and the history of geographical thought and its contribution on the researched subjects.
