Democracy in Brazil: preliminary outline of the authoritarian stock composition ; La democracia en Brasil: esquema preliminar de la composición del inventario autoritario ; Democracia no Brasil: delineamento preliminar da composição do estoque autoritário

The objective of this essay is to start a study on the concept of “authoritarian stock” from Conrado Hübner Mendes in a preliminary and non-exhaustive way, revisiting some of the relevant literature productions that deal with processes related to the formation of the Brazilian democracy, in order to answer the question: “which elements of these works can be related to the concept of authoritarian stock, as outlined by Mendes?”. We will start this article with some methodological considerations, (i) presenting the concept of “authoritarian stock”; (ii) explaining the relevance of the study of the authoritarian stock; (iii) justifying the intended analysis cutout; and (iv) defining and justifying the choice of the authors and works analyzed herein. Then, we will revisit some of Glenda Mezarobba's and Leonardo Avritzer's productions, presenting them in general terms, and seeking in the reading of these works to answer the question pointed out at the beginning of this abstract and, at the end, make a brief assessment of the issues that may have been identified. ; Con este ensayo se pretende, de forma preliminar y no exhaustiva, iniciar un estudio sobre el concepto de “inventario autoritario” de Conrado Hübner Mendes, revisando algunas de las producciones bibliográficas relevantes que abordan procesos relacionados con la formación de la democracia brasileña, para responder a la pregunta: “¿qué elementos de estas obras pueden relacionarse con el concepto de inventario autoritario, tal como lo plantea Mendes?”. Comenzaremos este artículo con algunas consideraciones metodológicas, (i) trayendo el concepto de “inventario autoritario”; (ii) explicando la relevancia de su estudio; (iii) fundamentando el recorte de análisis; y (iv) definindo y justificando la elección de autores y trabajos analizados.
