      The result of both an artistic and an economic process, the Pink Floyd record sleeves created by the Hipgnosis graphic design collective have an ambiguous status in art history. In this study, we set out to show how the Hipgnosis graphic design collective, through the record sleeves they created for Pink Floyd, managed to meet the artistic ambitions of their clients while respecting economic constraints. Or, to put it another way, how the record sleeve, first and foremost a commercial product and consumer object, was used to convey the essence of Pink Floyd's music. Three lines of analysis were chosen to address this issue. The first was to show how, and in what ways, the record sleeve is a product of the cultural industry. Secondly, the study focused on Floydian record sleeves designed by Hipgnosis, which sought to emancipate themselves from marketing imperatives to better assert their visual universe. The third and final part of the analysis will focus on the cover of the Floydian album The Dark Side Of The Moon, demonstrating how and why this illustration by Hipgnosis and George Hardie has become, over time, the brand image, or visual symbol, of the English band. Ultimately, these works not only helped develop the band's visual identity, but also contributed to the evolution of the record sleeve as an artistic practice in its own right. ; Résultant d’un processus tout à la fois artistique et économique, les pochettes de disques des Pink Floyd par le collectif de graphistes Hipgnosis possèdent un statut ambigu au sein de l’histoire de l’art. Dans cette étude, il a été question de montrer comment le collectif de graphistes Hipgnosis, à travers les pochettes de disques créées pour Pink Floyd, est parvenu à répondre aux ambitions artistiques de leurs commanditaires tout en respectant les contraintes économiques.
