Objective: To understand the discourses of medical and nursing students and teachers regarding interprofessional education (IPE) in perinatal maternal health. Materials and method: Qualitative study involving textual, contextual, and sociological discourse analysis from a socio-hermeneutic perspective. Focus groups were conducted with medical and nursing students and faculty in the field of maternal-perinatal health. Two emerging categories were identified: institutional factors and academic discourse, and the requirements for IPE. Results: Traditional institutionality, grounded in a single-professional academic discourse, creates barriers and resistance to the demands of an increasingly interdependent healthcare environment. However, within these discussions, there is a clear desire to foster interprofessional dialogues to ensure effective collaborationamong health professionals in maternal-perinatal care. ; Objetivo: comprender los discursos de estudiantes y docentes de medicina y enfermería frente a la educación interprofesional (EIP) en la salud materno perinatal.
