نبذة مختصرة : Preservation has a broad meaning and, in this case, the importance of scanning is understood as a means of facilitating access and reducing manual contact with the original document. For the scope of this research, in an archival context with the adoption of a case study procedure, methodology will be applied from parameters, such as the qualitative-quantitative approach, of a basic nature, with obviously descriptive objectives. So, once again, understanding how the digital preservation of documents from the collections held in the Historical Archive of the UFBA's Memory Places space contributes to the conservation of these documents from a perspective of digital preservation policies and guides the general objective of this study. To do so, it will be necessary to expose the specifics, which are: recording aspects of the adoption of institutional policies on the subject, identifying processes applied in loco and finally verifying the impacts on the physical integrity and availability of documents from the collections in custody when mechanisms are adopted of digital preservation. Techniques will be applied for data collection and analysis through interviews, with the use of an interview script (questionnaires) as an instrument, in addition to studies in specific bibliography. The expected results should support the existence of institutional policies and processes that support the adoption of digital preservation mechanisms for the conservation of documents from the collections held in the Historical Archive of the UFBA's Memory Places space and thus maintain the integrity of the documents to facilitate their availability to users and interested public. ; A preservação possui amplo sentido e, neste caso, compreende-se a importância da digitalização como meio de facilitar o acesso e diminuir o contato manual com o documento original.
