The foundational myth of Santo Daime religion brings, in its core, the theme of inspiration through the feminine: it is said that its founder, Mestre Irineu, was initiated in ayahuasca tea mysteries by a female deity identified with the moon and mainly recognized as the Virgin Mary. This dissertation seeks to investigate how the symbolism linked to the spiritual instruction of Mestre Irineu can be interpreted from archetypal images of the feminine, taking Carl Gustav Jung’s thought as the main theoretical path. For this, a documentary analysis of 4 foundational narratives and 33 ritual songs from the hymnbook O Cruzeiro, a daimist liturgical material, was carried out based on the methodological proposal of the semantic maps developed by Berkenbrock (2018b). It is understood that this hymnal can present a symbolic function that integrates religious experience and myth, acting as a suggestion for the archetypal images of the feminine transformation character and as a symbolic accommodation of these images in a predominantly Christian religious grammar. The symbolic emergence of the archetypal feminine is, therefore, considered a possible constitutive dimension in the actualization of the foundational myth in Santo Daime religion: as an experience of anima and the transformation character of the feminine.
