The building project is one of the most frequent problem in the lasts years in Ecuador, those are about the multiples changes that are generated in the execution time, the same ones that have caused countless constructibility problems. This is the origin of the present research project, its main purpose being to identify the reasons why construction projects aren’t executed as originally designed. In the present study, a qualitative and quantitative approach were applied, with a research study of the field of four civil projects located in the area: three "Penipe, Guamote, Puyo" and zone six "Macas" In which an analysis of documents about the projects were applied, specifying the design variations generated, the same ones those were categorized determining the reasons and their incidents in the change, that will help as guides and appropriate techniques to minimize in some way the occurrence of changes in the design, reducing rework, delay and some cost overrun of the construction projects. The results with the highest incidence that was obtained about design change reasons are: "design omissions or incomplete drawings; change of requirement (specifications) and rectification of errors construction”. So it has left as future research to establish what changes in design affect productivity in similar projects. ; Uno de los problemas más frecuentes que han tenido en los últimos años los proyectos de construcción en el Ecuador, son los múltiples cambios de diseño que se generan en etapas de ejecución, los mismo que han provocado un sin número de problemas de constructibilidad.
