Design and validation of educational material for adults with advanced-stage breast, prostate, and cervical cancer ; Diseño y validación de material didáctico para adultos con cáncer de mama, próstata y cérvix en estadio avanzado ; Elaboração e validação de material didático para adultos com câncer de mama, de próstata e de colo do útero em estágio avançado

Introduction: Nursing interventions are designed to improve oncological care, often supportedby educational and didactic materials aimed at contributing to the well-being of patients. Objective: To design and validate the content of didactic materials for patients with advanced-stage breast, prostate, and cervical cancer. Materials and method: Methodological study developed in four phases: i) identification of health needs and structuring of content, ii) design of the didactic material, iii) technical validation, and iv) validation with the population. The content validity ratio was calculated for the technical evaluation by experts and the percentage of agreement for the validation with the population. Results: The contents addressed were spiritual strengthening, pain management, fatigue, anxiety and depression. The material was designed in an agenda format for self-care, titled “Day by day: Paths to travel.” During validation with experts, attributes such as content, language, illustrations/graphs, presentation, stimulation/motivation and cultural appropriateness were evaluated, resulting in content validity ratios between 0.78 and 1. The validation with the population scrutinized about the organization, writing style, appearance and motivation of theeducational material, with percentages of agreement from 72.7 to 100. Additionally, suggestions for improvement, both from experts and the target population, were considered for the development of the definitive version of the material. Conclusions: The material was considered valid in terms of content and appearance. Adjustments were made to some elements related to the path of spirituality.
