Chapel Exercises for Alumni and Former Students at the Front (Y.M.C.A College List), April 25, 1916

A newspaper clipping published by the Springfield Republican on April 25, 1916 with an article titled "Chapel Exercises for Alumni and Former Students at the Front" and talks about exercises done through the Young Men's Christian Association College (now Springfield College)'s chapel in honor of alumni and former students who have fought in World War I (specifically the number who have fought with the French and British forces in nearly every theater of the European war , except the Russian front). It also reports Laurence L. Doggett (name spelled wrong, listed as Laurance L. Doggett, in the news articles) reading the list of name and Willian G. Ballantine and Frank N. Seerley reading letters from Dirk J. Van Bommel and Leon Mann, respectively. At the end of article it list each man with a brief biography of each. ; This item was original held loose within a bound book titled “War-Work Courses in Great War, 1917-1918 Incomplete.” This volume was unbound and its contents foldered in the original order, which is chronological. The binding string was cut and the glue was removed with a razor blade. The edges are intact and the placement of stitches are visible. Each page or booklet was individually lifted out of the binding and placed in their own folder or a folder with like materials. Oversized materials were removed and placed in the oversized materials collection.
