O papel do bibliotecário como gestor e empreendedor da informação e do conhecimento

Due to globalization, information society has suffering a crescent advance in the propagation of information and use of technologies, causing, thus, a daily challenge that organizations have to deal with to manage their crescent information flux. It is highlighted the role of information and knowledge as essential elements of support to the organizational environments, as well as the role of the librarian as an information and knowledge manager, considering that the librarian is the main professional able to perform the function of a mediator and producer agent of information contents. By means of a literature review, the theoretical foundation approaches discussions about the librarian, Librarianship, manager librarian, information management (IM) and knowledge management (KM) in information units, entrepreneurship, entrepreneur librarian, and the relation between Librarianship and entrepreneurship. It is added a discussion about the competences of librarians, by means of the analysis of authors such as Carvalho (1999), Barreto (2002) and Silva (2009). In methodological terms, the research is characterized as qualitative with exploratory and descriptive nature. To reach the objective, it was developed a research in the Lattes Curricula of the professors of the Librarianship Course of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), in which it was done a survey and mapping of the articles about management which were published in 2015 and 2016. From the obtained results by means of the collected data, it is verified the importance of the librarian as a manager of information units and libraries, whether public, private, school or university ones.
