Investigation is the stage of searching and collecting evidence to make light of a criminal offense and find the perpetrator or suspect of the crime. The application of the Scientific Crime Investigation (SCI) method in investigations can assist investigators in collecting evidence using a scientific approach from various disciplines. This study aims to determine the urgency of applying SCI in proving criminal cases and the implementation of the SCI mechanism in police regional office proof criminal cases. This is empirical juridical research conducted by examining library materials or library data and collecting data through field studies. The data analysis method used is the descriptive-qualitative method. The application of the SCI method in the investigation is as a tool in the investigation process to find evidence, which will then be submitted in court. The evidentiary power of the results of SCI in the form of letters and expert testimony can be used as valid evidence and cannot be refuted because it is obtained through a scientific process by an expert, so the SCI method is in line with the theory of proof of bewisjmidellen, bewijsmnimum, negatief wettelijk bewijstheorie, bewisjkracht, and bewijsvoering. Each investigation process is conducted in accordance with laws and regulations. The SCI method includes: 1) Identification, to determine the characteristics of both the perpetrator, victim, and goods or objects by identifying fingerprints (dactyloscopy) on a person or a person's fingerprints on an object. 2) Digital forensics, to analyze, identify, examine, and store evidence contained in various types of electronic and digital devices. 3) Forensic psychology, to assist the investigation process in the form of examining the psychological condition of victims, witnesses, and/or perpetrators. 4) Forensic medicine, to assist in examinations related to bodily injury, poisoning, or death by conducting Visum et Repertum by forensic doctors.
