      This research has as main objective to elaborate an intervention proposal that, starting from the funk musical genre, can provide conditions for the student to become aware that the funk language, with its slang and particularities, can dialogue with the linguistic variety prioritized in the school , that is, the student does not need to give up his way of speaking, however, concomitantly, he must develop efficient linguistic competence in the prestige variant, to use it in communication situations that require greater monitoring of the language. In this research, we seek to develop students' awareness of linguistic adequacy in their most varied contexts, supported by the concepts of Coseriu (1979), Labov (1972), Bakhtin (2004), Preti (1984, 2000, 2004, 2006), Bagno (1999), Cristianini (2007), among others. As students demonstrate, through opinions and actions, a great affinity for the funk musical genre, a controversial style, mainly due to the content of the lyrics of some of its aspects, and are influenced by it in speech and writing, we proposed to make a study of elements that characterize the language of funk, namely: slang, expletives, obscene and erotic vocabulary. We also use strategies that value students' linguistic diversity, approaching teaching open to reflection, dialogue and diversity. As a product, we produced a didactic compendium on the topic, made available for consultation and applicability, to the entire school community and to anyone who might be interested. This material consisted of a Blog containing information, sources and suggestions for working with funk in the classroom, such as interviews with experts, curiosities, music analysis, humorous videos, activities, among others. With this, we intend not only to be able to contribute to the teaching of the Portuguese language, but also to minimize the stigmas of the image pre-conceived by the school community about the funk musical genre, with which young students are so identified. ; CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de ...
