Hubungan Kadar Asam Urat dan Ketebalan Lapisan Intima Media Arteri Karotis (CIMT) pada Penderita Hipertensi

Hyperuricemia (HU) is a well recognized risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Intima media thickness (IMT) of the carotid artery noninvasively assessed by ultrasonography is now validated as a sensitive marker for atherosclerosis and it is directly associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study was to explain correlation between SUA and CIMT in patients with hypertension. Methods : Analytic observational Cross Sectional study. This Study performed SUA based on enzimatic corimetric method and measured thickness of intima media of distal carotid communis artery with high resolution B made ultrasound. Locations probe right and left carotid arteries with anterior, lateral and posterior approach in patients with hypertension at Cardiology outward. Dr. Soetomo Hospital Result : Sixty three hypertensive patoents mean aged 61,02 y.o +- 4,93 y.o accompanied by obesity 11,1 %, DM 14,3%, dyslipidemia 46% and used diuretic drug 30,1 %. Mean SUA in male 6,45 +- 1,64 mg/dl. female 5,35 +- 1,48 mg/dl. Mean CIMT 0,869 mm +- 0,170 mm and reached moderate high risk 56%. Correlation betweeen SUA and Max CIMT : 0,308; p = 0,014 Whereas if these patients were accompanied by obesity, we found coefficient of correlation (r) = 0,836; p= 0,019. Conclucions : There was a weak correlation between SUA and CIMT but in hypertensive patients accompanied by obesity there was strong correlation.
