Objective: The present research study analysed the frequency of post-surgical alveolitis in lower molars through a review of the literature. Material and Method: An exhaustive review of scientific articles published in several databases, such as PubMed, Scielo, and Medigraphic, was carried out, all in a time interval encompassed in the last 10 years. Following PRISMA standards, searching for scientific articles and bibliographic reviews. 40 scientific articles were collected, and there were also inclusion and exclusion mechanisms to guarantee that the information provided was significant. The SJR impact factor was applied (Scimago Journal Ranking) and ACC (average count citation). Results: After having analysed the information provided by the scientific articles, the highest frequency of alveolitis in lower molars, the main risk factors, the types of alveolitis, and the differentiation of the clinical characteristics of both alveolitis were described. Conclusion: The frequency of alveolitis in lower molars was analysed, with 19.30% affecting young older adult patients and predominating in the female gender, the highest risk factor being the absence of oral hygiene. The most frequent type of alveolitis is dry. Its main clinical characteristics are intense pain, alveolar inflammation, and partial or total loss of the clot for dry sockets, and in wet sockets, mild or moderate pain, alveolar inflammation, and necrotic clot. ; Objetivo: El presente estudio investigativo se analizó la frecuencia de alveolitis post-quirúrgicas en molares inferiores mediante una revisión de la literatura.
