      Previous Control Number: UM1346 The Melbourne College of Advanced Education (MCAE) was formed on the 1st of January in 1983 by the amalgamation of the Melbourne State College and State College of Victoria Institute of Early Childhood Development. On the 1st of January in 1989 the MCAE became part of the Education Faculty of the University of Melbourne to form the Institute of Education. Student course record cards for completed and unfinished degrees, arranged alphabetically by student surname and year. Each card records the results for a student for all subjects taken in a single year. Results from the following courses are included: Diploma of Education Bachelor of Education Bachelor of Music Education Previous to this, the Melbourne Teachers’ College and the Secondary Teachers’ College were amalgamated to form the Melbourne State College in 1973. The Training Institution was created in 1888 and was renamed the Training College in 1900 and in 1913 it became the Melbourne Teachers College. The Secondary Teacher’s Training Centre was established in 1950 and late renamed the Secondary Teacher’s College of Victoria. The Melbourne Kindergarten Teacher’s College became the State College of Victoria Institute of Early Childhood Development in 1973. The MCAE’s primary function was to provide training and education for a number of professions, in particular, future primary and secondary school teacher’s.
