Environmental quality and behavior of use and occupation of the Parnaíba Delta ; Qualidade ambiental e comportamento de uso e ocupação do Delta do Parnaíba

The study aimed to assess the conservation status of the Parnaíba delta by analyzing the vegetation cover using the techniques and tools of geoprocessing. The Parnaíba River Delta is located to the North of Piauí on the border of the State of Maranhão, at the mouth of the Parnaíba River. To assess the conservation index of the vegetation cover of the Delta do Parnaíba, secondary data were collected and maps of the study area were made to verify the vegetation cover indices (NDVI). The anthropic pressure in these areas has generated a 'cascade effect' for the reduction of vegetation, considering that the suppression of vegetation in areas previously densified reduces the stability of these areas. In addition to the loss of vegetation due to deforestation, the natural process of displacing dune sediments may also contribute in part to the reduction of vegetation. In addition, APA's environmental quality has been compromised by non-compliance with the standards adopted by the unit's management plan, which promotes an increase in the vulnerability of these areas, which naturally already offer environmental instability due to their structural and ecodynamic conditions. ; O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o estado de conservação do delta do Parnaíba por meio de análise da cobertura vegetal utilizando as técnicas e as ferramentas do geoprocessamento. O Delta do Rio Parnaíba localiza-se ao Norte do Piauí na divisa do Estado do Maranhão, na foz do rio Parnaíba. Para avaliação do índice de conservação da cobertura vegetal do Delta do Parnaíba foi realizado o levantamento de dados secundários e confeccionados mapas da área de estudo para verificação dos índices de cobertura vegetal (NDVI). A pressão antrópica nessas áreas tem gerado um 'efeito cascata' para a redução da vegetação, tendo em vista que a supressão da vegetação em áreas antes adensadas reduz a estabilidade dessas áreas.
