Purpose : According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 285 millions people suffer from visual problems in the world (August 2014) : 246 million have one decreased visual acuity while 39 million are either blind. The visual impairment is mainly caused by uncorrected refractive errors. Methods : The objective of my research paper is to provide a support and recommendations to specialized development of the environment involved in providing care for visually impaired patients in order to find solutions or improvements in the signposting process. Besides it is aimed at the people in direct contact at to be adopted postures and aids adapted. Results : I started by studying the functional consequences and inabilities of each visual impairment. At the end of my research period, I was able to address and list the settings and the supports most suited to match to the expectation of the greatest number :- Lighting- Contrast- Signposting- Type and font of writing- Surface texture to be usedThen, I compared it with the existing one, taking the example of CHU G. Montpied (Clermont-Ferrand) and the I tried to think of the fitting installations to the universal design. Conclusion : My observations have lead me to realize there are fewer resources available to a sensory impaired person than to a physically impaired one. A unique method of signalization provided to all handicapped people does not exist yet. A method designed for a visually impaired person may, or may not be adapted to other types of handicaps. In fine, we proposed recommendations and established a simplified brochure of this work for dissemination.
