Una geografía de las trayectorias migratorias en México

International audience ; This chapter examines migratory movements in Mexico in their geographical dimension, using the 2017 Retrospective Demographic Survey (EDER-2017). Based on the migration trajectories of 24,000 individuals, which take into account age at migration, distance between stages, geographical location and the rural or urban character of each place of residence, the chapter analyzes the migration dynamics of Mexicans and their migration histories over the past 50 years. The results show the increase in distances travelled and the predominantly urban nature of national migration trajectories. They also confirm the close relationship between migration and the age of first entering the labor market and the search for economic opportunities. However, the results temper the importance of migration. 55% of people have never changed their place of residence, and 21% have only migrated once in their lifetime. The attractiveness of big cities and the extension of their radius of influence partly explain this result. The analysis of immobility, a blind spot in migration studies, reveals the diversity of geographical contexts of migration in Mexico and the personal characteristics of immobile individuals. ; Este capítulo indaga los movimientos migratorios en México en su dimensión geográfica con base en la Encuesta Demográfica Retrospectiva de 2017 (EDER-2017). Partiendo de las trayectorias migratorias de 24 000 individuos que se contemplaron considerando la edad en el momento de la migración, la distancia entre etapas, la ubicación geográfica y el carácter rural o urbano de cada lugar de residencia, el capítulo analiza las dinámicas migratorias de los mexicanos y sus historias migratorias en los últimos 50 años. Los resultados muestran el aumento de las distancias recorridas y el carácter predominantemente urbano de las trayectorias migratorias nacionales.
