Assessment of Depression and Medication Adherence in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease in Jainad Narendra Hospital ; การประเมินภาวะซึมเศร้าและความร่วมมือในการใช้ยาในผู้ป่วยโรคไตเรื้อรัง ในโรงพยาบาลชัยนาทนเรนทร

Objective: To assess evaluate depression and medication adherence in chronic kidney disease patients at Jainad Narendra Hospital, compare depression in patients with different treatment regimens and determine the relationship between medication adherence and personal factors with depression in this group of patients. Methods: This research was a descriptive cross- sectional study. The subjects were 316 patients with chronic kidney disease receiving services at the Chronic Kidney Disease Outpatient Clinic at Jainad Narendra Hospital, selected by convenience sampling. This study assessed depression by using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression (CES-D) questionnaires in Thai version and measured medication adherence using the Medication Taking Behavior measure for Thai patients (MTB-Thai). Results: 32.28% of the subjects were at risk of depression. There were no differences in depression for patients with different treatments. Most of patients with chronic kidney disease (65.51%) had a moderate level of adherence. Non-complaint patients were more likely to be at risk of depression (P<0.001). 54.17% and 75.00% of those who were single or divorced, respectively were at risk of depression, while 29.49 and 31.48% of those who were married and widowed, respectively, were at risk. Government officials and state enterprise employees were more at risk of depression than other occupations. Other personal factors did not correlate with depression. Conclusion: 32.28% of patients with chronic kidney disease was at risk of depression.
