نبذة مختصرة : Mothers are singular beings in the development of their children. Commonly, they accompany the birth, the growth, the entry of their children into school and their inclusion in society. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze maternal perceptions regarding the schooling of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and, in a specific way: a) identify the conception of an inclusive school that the mothers participating in the research have; b) discuss their understanding of the school educational process of children with SEN; c) indicate possible ways of improving the inclusive educational work carried out in public schools. The study adopted a qualitative approach (LAKATOS and MARCONI, 2011), being developed a bibliographic research (RAMPAZZO, 2005; LEÃO, 2016). The investigative method of Case Study was used in order to analyze the facts in depth and, as a result, expand scientific knowledge about the object studied (YIN, 2001; SANTOS, 2005). For the construction of the data, semi-structured interviews were carried out (QUIVY; CAMPENHOUDR, 2005) with 7 (seven) mothers of children with Special Educational Needs. As for the data analysis and interpretation procedures, we opted for the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin (2016), with the categories: 1) understanding about inclusion in the school; 2) enrollment of the child at school; 3) daily life at home and at school; 4) family and school relationship; 5) possible improvements for an inclusive school - which evidenced the fact that, when enrolling the child with SEN in a school institution, mothers look for places with architectural accessibility, qualified professionals and good references. The mothers participating in this study also demonstrated to present a concept of inclusive school as a synonym for: socialization and participation of the person with SEN in the school institution, so that there is coexistence with diversity without stigma and prejudice.
