This dissertation, called Photographs of Invisible Cities: a poetic and cartographic look at the flows in the Fragata neighbourhood of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, was conducted at the UFPel Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts, in the research line Creation Processes and Poetics of everyday life. The poetic research is focused on some concerns experienced in my existence. The proposed work starts from questions regarding what affects our perception in the city. We live in contemporary times with the excesses of work, information and images. Do we still have time to look at the city? And when we have, are we willing to contemplate it? Capitalism massifies the subjectivity of individuals by showing only one way: consumption and false happiness, which leads to the acceleration of daily life. The methodology used in the research was cartography because it is my subjectivity as a researcher, being the object of research my own existential territory. From the Fragata neighbourhood, where I have lived for over forty years, I begin to photograph passer-by flows and find clues to develop the work. One of them was Italo Calvino's book The Invisible Cities, which made me look at my neighbourhood in a different way and use my imagination to find other cities within Pelotas. In the course of the research I discovered three cities, each with its own particularity, but all full of stories. To materialize them I use photography as an extension of my gaze to produce videos and images.
