نبذة مختصرة : Rosa Ursina es tal vez el “capolavoro” del jesuita y astrónomo alemán Christopher Scheiner. Esta obra ha sido considerada como el mejor estudio realizado en el siglo XVII sobre las manchas solares, luego de haber sido descubiertas a inicios de la segunda década del mismo siglo, hecho que generó una dura polémica entre el mencionado autor y Galileo sobre la paternidad del hallazgo. Pese a que Scheiner terminó por aceptar los planteamientos de Galileo sobre la ubicación de las manchas solares, no cesó en su empeño de reivindicar para sí la gloria de su descubrimiento y en la defensa enconada del sistema ptolemaico contrario al copernicano seguido por Galileo. En el presente artículo hacemos un análisis de lo acontecido entre ambos autores hasta su desenlace con la publicación de Rosa Ursina y la condena de Galileo. ; Rosa Ursina is perhaps the “capolavoro” of the German Jesuit and astronomer Christopher Scheiner. This work has been considered as the best study on sun spots made in the XVII century, after these were discovered at the beginning of the second decade of the century; a fact that created a heated polemic between the aforementioned author and Galileo on the paternity of the discovery. Although Scheiner ended up accepting Galileo’s propositions on the location of sun spots, he did not desist on his quest to reclaim the glory of the discovery for himself, and on the heated defense of the Ptolemaic system, opposite to the Copernican followed by Galileo.
