Is it possible to reconcile Christian faith and autonomous art practices? The work examines the complexities of the relationship between the art world and Christianity and explores how artists operate between these two communities. A paper discusses the reasons why there is a lack of communication between Christianity and the art world; also it explores spiritual and social functions of artists in the communities and city. The most important idea of the work is the margins as a meeting point for both - faith and art practices. Contemporary artists are compared to such archetypal figures as the homo sacer, the mearcstapa, and the biblical prophet.
