Different psychosocial risk factors precede work-related stress and compromise workers' health. This research identified characteristics of the work of brazilian higher education teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic that can influence the development of stress. A quantitative study was conducted with 203 teachers members from public and private institutions in different states of Brazil. A socio-professional data questionnaire and the Job Stress Scale (adapted version in Portuguese) were applied. Aspects of the participants' work stood out, such as the requirement to work intensely and quickly, the need to use specific skills and knowledge for task performance. The participants perceived a high workload demand (60%), high control and autonomy in their tasks (64%), and high social support (53%).
