Ontological Security in an Anxious Nation: an Existential Framework of Colombian Security ; Seguridad Ontológica en una Nación Ansiosa: un Marco Existencial de la Seguridad Colombiana

Ontological security refers to the sense that is related to one's own being and not only to the physical dimension. After the end of the armed conflict with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia Ejército del Pueblo FARC-EP, Colombia finds itself in a definitional crisis in terms of security. This has generated a condition of collective anxiety, both among citizens and among institutions that has given rise to contexts of serious insecurities and violence. In this article, we propose to address Why is it important to consider the construction of ontological security in the Colombian context? How does national anxiety affect state security problems? Through the methodological approach of instrumental variables, we consider as hypothesis that the lack of attention to ontological security in Colombia has prevented the identification of the sense of security beyond the traditional approach of the militarization of the agenda. This lack of attention has facilitated the understanding of anxiety as a crucial element in ensuring that an anxious nation is itself dangerous. We have found that conceptual distortions led to an arbitrary definition of national security, and that anxiety is the product of state disconnections with citizen daily life. This produces distrust and, consequently, insecurity. ; La seguridad ontológica se refiere a la sensación que está relacionada con el propio ser y no solo con la dimensión física.
